2023 Mighty Leopard Award Winners
Since 2015, through your generosity and participation, the Donald Asmonga Foundation has awarded $62,000 in scholarships to 35 outstanding student athletes at Belle Vernon Area High School. This year’s winners were announced at Belle Vernon’s Senior Athletic Awards’ Banquet on April 22:

Viva Kreis
Farrah Reader competed in soccer, basketball, and track & field at Belle Vernon Area High School and plans to attend Temple’s Fox School of Business and major in business management and political science.
Jacob Wessell competed in baseball and swimming. Jacob plans to attend Penn State Erie-Behrend College where he plans to study mechanical and ultimately aerospace engineering. Jacob’s goals include working in the aerospace industry for an organization such as NASA or SpaceX.
Evan Pohlot competed in football and basketball, achieved Scholar Society of BVAHS, and plans to attend Duquesne University and major in the Master in Physician Assistant Studies.
Lindsay Nagy competed in volleyball and plans to earn her Masters Degree in Architecture once she completes her bachelor’s degree.
Viva Kreis competes as a member of the US Team Handball Team. She was a three-sport athlete in high school, lettering in cross country, basketball, and track. Viva is a published author and illustrator of her children’s book, She Did That!?: Amazing Female Athletes from A to Z. Viva plans to attend Arizona State University and continue her handball career with a team in France.
